Like it was just one day when I saw Tanay Pratap’s post in Linkedin featuring about a hackathon. So I just thought like, “Why not?” and ended up registering in that event.

As far as I remember, there were 2 zoom meetings before the main event(“hacking”) took place. The 1st meeting was like a warm-up, mainly talking about team-formation and ideation. Basically, I just have to write in an excel sheet about the idea on which I’d like to work & with whom I’d like to work.

And the idea must be some tool which can help a developer in day-to-day life.

The 2nd meeting was also regarding the same thing, team formation and ideation.

I chose the idea of “Script which alerts users about PRs daily through slack/emails”(something like that). I thought it was easy and I’ve seen a project similar like this on the internet💡.

Then… I’ve started working on it. I was solo, majority of the people who were working were solo too… maybe because their ideas conflicted. And to be honest, I slept. I slept for 6 hours for the 2 days which spanned across the hackathon💤. Because for all I know, I can’t work with tired eyes.

As I expected, finished building that thing in 2 days. Wasn’t exactly what the idea stated but 60% close to that. Only alerted the users about the issues when they were fired🔫 from the github repo.

And yeah!👀 the people who organized the hackathon, Swapnil Agarwal & Sahithi Kantheti were very cool & amazing people, organized the entire event like pros😎.

So, after finishing, I had to make a loom video describing the work of the bot and send it to those people. And after a wait of 3-4hrs guess what, I became one of the finalists. (Me at the 3rd place)

After the declaration of the finalists, there was one last zoom meeting I’ve to attend to where finalists will present their work.

Sadly, no luck this time. Ofcourse, you can’t expect a guy who have slept in his 1st hackathon to come and win like it’s nothing😆.

But learnt a lot of things about web developement though, mainly from the judges like Sachin Jain, Kushagra Gour & Ben Wilson.

Overall, it was fun(i guess🎢).

Oh yeah! feel free to check what I’ve done too.
